Field Work for the Project Entitled: The (re) Inscription of Memory: Valuing the Informal Practices, Spatial Memory and Local Narratives within the Physical Recovery of Mosul’s Old town”
The project aims to investigate the spaces and buildings of significant memory in Mosul’s Old Town, prioritizing the Mosuli locals within the process. In an aim to underline the consideration that an intangible heritage just as vital as the tangible, and emphasize the intangible as a driver for the tangible. Mosul has seen unprecedented destruction through the ISIS insurgency within the period of 2014-2017 i. The cultural heritage, incubated through spaces within the city, will be studied in this project to bridge the gap between the physical reconstruction and the human restoration in Mosul. 
This Project is a part of a grant awarded by the British Institute for the Study of Iraq (BISI)
